This work was done between 2011 and 2014, some images were taken in Goma and Kinshasa during the 2011 presidential and legislative electoral campaign, while others were taken when I was visiting my family. The Goal was to capture the lingering tension between everyday life and ongoing political struggles, which, when framed, embodies the restless beauty I still experience every time I go back home.
Still. The experience is in motion, I’m just passing by, shielded from the impossibility of escaping that stagnant reality.
I’m a spectator, and I conduct myself as such.
Still. Beauty is the blind in front of my lens, the trap, the compromise I dwell in when trying to capture parts of myself. Parts of myself I only visit once in a while.
